A teenage boy named Mahito moves with his father to a country estate far from the hectic Tokyo. In his new home, he meets a peculiar talking heron who entices him to explore a mysterious abandoned tower. There, Mahito discovers a magical world ruled by a mysterious old man. On his journey of discovery, he meets the brave girl Himi, an army of parrots and the cute creatures of Warawara.
